Caucuses a planned inconvenience?
Aug. 15, 2009 12:05 am
The two political parties seem to be having a problem scheduling the “horse and buggy” Iowa caucus. While we have 14 hours to vote on sales tax, fire stations and whatever issue might be on the ballot, the caucus likes to limit the attendance by shortening the hours so anyone working cannot participate, and on a cold night the elderly probably won't attend.
I would guess the reason is that if a person has the time to vote in private, much of the “party power” would be lost.
So let Iowa have a primary election, the only way to select the man who might become your president.
