Casinos should be treated the same
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Feb. 10, 2014 3:30 pm
Todd Dorman's article from Feb. 4, “Casino ride just starting,” brought some interesting facts to light on how Dan Kehl does his fact finding.
Kehl keeps track of where his customers come from and how much they spend, and if anyone wants to open a business in that area, he has a possibility of losing business and wants it to be eliminated. Casinos should be treated like any other business - it's a competition to get the people to spend their money in their establishment.
Why should a commission have the authority to limit the number of casinos anywhere in the state of Iowa? Since when is it the state's responsibility to make sure a business is successful?
