Casino will not benefit community
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Feb. 28, 2013 11:57 am
How often do people go to a casino? Once a week? Once a month? With a casino in our backyard, they can go to the casino every day.
How many pay checks will be left at the casino while the kids at home go hungry? There will be more bankruptcies, more losing their homes. Will the 3 percent that the non-profits get, will it help the homeless? I'm not talking about a few additional people. I mean families with children.
There will be no new jobs. Why? Because some businesses will close their doors for the lack of spending customers. All that money is spent at the casino. My vote Tuesday will be a big no.
