Casino venture a gamble that won’t pay

The Cedar Crossing investors gambled on a casino venture. After two independent studies showed that another casino would not significantly increase state gambling revenue, they invested more money expecting an outcome in their favor. That is exactly what gamblers do, they keep playing, expecting different results.
Steve Gray's group left Council Bluffs with their homes, companies, life savings and families still intact. Many Iowa gamblers haven't been so fortunate.
Hopefully, casino investors keep their commitment to give back to our community. Cedar Rapids needs endeavors that create jobs based on people's talents, not their addictive behavior.
