Cash for Clunkers just another auto bailout

The Cash for Clunkers program is just another bailout for the auto industry. What about the people who can't afford to buy a new car? Why can't the clunkers all be broken down for parts? This would be great for recycling, instead of just dumping them in the landfills.
This is not a good program. It keeps taking our taxpayer money to the tune of billions of dollars. When will it stop, when our treasury is empty? This is closer than we think. We won't see our country out of debt in our lifetime.
