Capitalism key to thriving middle class

To the editor:
Paul Schroedermeier's Nov. 19 letter 'Beware of impact of dark money” expresses his ignorance of capitalism - that prime mover that resulted in our nation being the envy of the planet. Capitalism and its corporations provided millions of jobs and was responsible for the growth of a flourishing middle class.
A major corporation objective is to make a profit. That concept seems to 'stick in the craw” of union members and socialist ideologues. Schroedermeier fails to realize that it was corporations that provided the major mechanisms that won World War II. Profit and patriotism were the incentive.
Schroedermeier's concept of an oligarchy seems to fit the present White House ideologues. For the benefit of our 'ignorant” voters, our president constantly reminds them of the 'do-nothing” Congress. But he fails to mention that his man in the Senate has blocked over 350 bills passed by the House. That is power in the hands of a few. Our president has publicly stated his dislike of our Constitution. He has been exposed as chief liar. His words of 'transparency” and 'honesty” have proved to be just words.
Schroedermeier's scorn for Joni Ernst, Ted Cruz, Steve King and the Tea Party reveals his own desire for an oligarchy. These victims of his disparagement are strong defenders of our Constitution - that document that is supposed to assure us an honest, transparent government by the people, not the White House.
Let us never forget the many 'enlightening” words of our president's Obamacare architect.
