Candidate appreciates supporters, opportunity

Even though the election is long past, and the Thanksgiving holiday weekend upon us, it would be an oversight if I did not express my gratitude for all those who assisted in my campaign for Congress in the 2nd District.
Many people contributed, placed a yard or barn sign, made phone calls, e-mailed friends, door knocked, addressed envelopes, held a meet and greet or fundraiser, followed the campaign on Facebook or Twitter and spread such a positive image of our campaign to their circle of friends and colleagues. You provided such positive energy and strength and continued to inspire me to be a better candidate and if elected, an accessible and attentive representative.
Most important, thank you to those who voted. We cannot make democracy work unless an alternative is offered and it is through the actions of citizens that government on any level is held accountable. So while we eat turkey or leftovers, remember that your efforts were sincerely appreciated.
On Thanksgiving as on any other day, I am grateful to be a citizen of this wonderful country.
