Why does Gov. Terry Branstad dislike speed and red-light cameras?

If the so-called “pro-life” politicians and religious zealots really lived up to their title, they'd demand “speed and red-light cameras everywhere, and hidden, and mobile.” There's no better place to get the “needed revenue to fix roads and bridges,” than from “penalties on drivers that kill and endanger others,” and forget about an “increase in fuel tax.”

Legalize marijuana for medical use. If anyone is dying anyway, then what does it matter if it is “addictive?” Is the pharmaceutical community working behind the scenes in opposition to “medical marijuana?” They wouldn't “profit” if people could find something “cheaper for pain” than their pills.

Prison should be a place for the “violent” and “those who endanger and predate on others,” but not for someone who “simply possesses something” within his or her own home. Some drivers should be in prison. They do kill and endanger others much more than someone smoking marijuana in his or her own home.

Regarding John Zimmerman's guest column on Feb. 7. Dump the nanny laws. Get law enforcement and prosecution for the offenses that endanger or harass other people and property. Our justice system needs major reform.
