C.R. should focus back on general city upkeep

It didn't take long for the City Council to see that without the extended (sales) tax (for flood protection and street repairs), they need to scale back on some of their ideas, like the Intermodal (bus depot).
Maybe now they can find it in their hearts to rebuild the fire station. It's too late for the library. They must have a hard time sleeping knowing the fire department equipment is stored in a flood-prone area at the sign production building.
It wasn't too long ago (per the 2008 flood) that The Gazette ran an article that the city was going to have a study done to see if the dikes were in good shape. Well, we all know now they are. They held. We also know that Mother Nature chose to go over them, so why don't we move on as most of the homeowners closest to the river have? Let's take care of our streets, parks and just the general upkeep of our once-great city.
