To the editor:
A letter by Mary Chalupsky hit the nail on the head ('C.R. in need of senior community center,” Aug. 5).
I have been retired for many years and am in good health. Yet, as a widower I find loneliness a huge challenge. I find very few places that I can go and feel safe, relaxed, socialize, play cards, etc.
I have lived in Cedar Rapids/Marion area for 47 years. However, after my wife died I moved to Iowa City to be near my daughter and her husband. Yet, I drive to Cedar Rapids three to four times every week. I do volunteer work and attend a Cedar Rapids church every Sunday. Also, I have been a subscriber with The Gazette since 1959.
Please consider a senior center.
