C.R. now city of taxes, potholes, flood walls
Todd Dorman Feb. 7, 2011 11:01 pm
Cedar Rapids used to be called the Parlor City but now it's called the City of Five Seasons. Let's rename it; the three options are 1. City of Potholes; 2. City of Taxes; 3. City of Flood Control. We'll never see all the streets fixed because there's no money to do it.
So let's tax everybody one cent for the next 20 years so we can build more buildings and maybe fix the streets. And let's not forget about a flood wall that can only drown out the areas that have no flood walls. No talk of dredging the river which would seem to be a simple answer. And now talk of giving raises to elected officials. Where will that come from? Oh, I forgot, the city wants to up our property taxes and utilities.
