C.R. needs to change or stay dead in the water

Eighty-three years ago, I arrived in Cedar Rapids to a busy, vibrant, agriculturally and very industrial city. Today it is dead in the water.
Yes, we need leaders and people to look beyond their noses and after carefully sizing up everything, see into the future and take a calculated risk for the future of our city.
For example, the coming medical plaza and the proposed closing of Second Avenue is a breathtaking change, but stop and think about it. The plaza will draw many people into our city. Closing Second Avenue would inconvenience for only awhile.
For heaven's sake, either make changes that grow our city or leave it dead in the water.
