C.R. council failing to consider the people

I am tired of this lingering casino talk. Let's examine the history. Six-hundred phone calls to the so-called public to get an idea of interest. Were these random calls or known people in favor of a casino? What was the actual percentage of registered voters who voted on the issue? Was the deck stacked?
Riverside residents are overjoyed with casino money, while this Cedar Rapids group wanted to return only the minimum back to the city.
I fell off my chair about the article that said Riverside wasn't giving much back and Cedar Rapids was doing this for the city, ya right.
When I heard Clark McLeod was Steve Gray's right hand, that was enough for me. Does anyone remember the losing investors in McLeod's last venture?
The city backed the over-budget downtown hotel fiasco. No connection between that project and a casino, ya right again. This has been in the works all along.
The only people who don't know downtown is dead are the City Council members. My wife says these overpriced projects are a tribute to council members and the taxpayers will foot the bill for years.
Why doesn't this council try something for the people instead of monuments for themselves?
