C.R. already missed its casino chance

I'm not going to get into all of the details surrounding the Cedar Rapids casino application. Such as, how the cost to construct has risen dramatically from the initial proposal or how it's not going to help downtown businesses now that the plan includes its own food and beverage facilities or how it's going to cannibalize other casinos or why Riverside doesn't give much money back to Linn County or how three different studies indicate there is no room for more casinos in Eastern Iowa.
Simply put, you need to look at this whole issue backward to forward and you will have the answer. Had the residents of Linn County voted for the casino the first time (roughly 10 years ago), would the Riverside Casino & Golf Resort exist today? I think not.
So quit whining and wake up to the reality as someone else put it, “you snooze, you lose.”
