Businesses have right to side with a party

I disagree with the Nov. 7 Gazette editorial and the letter (Nov. 7) from the president of the League of Women Voters that businesses donating to political campaigns should be identified. Target Corp. tried transparency and was immediately hit by a boycott backed by the Democratic Party. No business should be vilified because of its political preference, regardless of party.
Jean McMenimen of the League of Women Voters wrote that special interest groups drown out the voices of individual voters. She fails to recognize that Democratic special interest groups, mainly unions, using members' dues, drown out the voices of the individual union members
She also says, “Even foreign government corporations could be funding these ads.” Pure speculation. House Democrats tried that tactic to shut off funding, but they could not prove any donations were dirty or foreign money. Fair is fair for both parties.
