Bullies need to learn respect, kindness
N/A

After reading the Nov. 23 article on bullying, it reminded me of a similar experience I had in 1949 when I attended Fillmore school. I was driven off the schoolyard by a group of girls throwing rocks at me. I went home.
My dad turned me around, and I was taken back to school. The group of girls, the principal, my dad and I had a talk, and I never had a problem again. Back then, kids had respect for adults. Today, there are a lot of angry, self-absorbed kids out there who have no idea what it is all about.
The article suggests that there seems to be no agreement among school officials on what to do.
Suggestion: When you discipline a bully, make him/her write the definition of kindness 200 times. That way they will never forget the definition.
Kids need to learn discipline and self-control. Words have power. Knowing the definition of kindness will always be helpful in an unkind world.
