I am writing this letter in support of Anthony Brown for the at large City Council seat. I have known Anthony for years and he tirelessly works to improve people's lives in our community. He has worked tirelessly with various non-profit agencies and most recently with Diversity Focus.
Many acquaintances have expressed frustration with both government inaction and decisions, including the move to develop funding for flood protection inclusive of the southwest side. There is a lack of trust in government and leftover anger and stress toward the entire flood-recovery process.
Anthony's goal is to include people from across Cedar Rapids and give them a stronger voice in city government. He does not have a vested interest in particular solutions or ideas but excels at building bridges with very diverse groups to arrive at a consensus.
Cedar Rapids has made significant strides in recovery since 2008 and I feel it is time to press ahead with recovery and new growth in all the many neighborhoods of our city. Anthony brings a fresh viewpoint to city government, he will listen to the citizens, he will be a voice for the people and he is the best candidate for City Council.
