Braley will protect Social Security

I saw a video of Joni Ernst, the Republican candidate for Tom Harkin's U.S. Senate seat, claiming she will protect Social Security and Medicare. However, she didn't explain what she meant by 'protect” and therein lies the problem.
When most of us think of 'protect” we think of preserving something as it is. But based on previous statements we know that Ernst has no intention of leaving Social Security or Medicare alone. No, Ernst intends to give our Social Security dollars to cronies on Wall Street to gamble away.
Her ideas for Medicare also have nothing to do with preserving or improving it. Ernst wants the elderly to get a measly voucher and then try to purchase private insurance on the marketplace. I am sure you can bet that Ernst would like to see that pre-existing condition clause returned to full use also, so the insurance industry can go back to the bad old days and use illness as a reason to deny coverage.
If you want to preserve Social Security and Medicare in their very successful form there is only one candidate for the U.S. Senate in Iowa who will do that. That is Bruce Braley.
Iowans should not fall for the false promises of a candidate who is a self-described loyalist to a couple of billionaires named Charles and David Koch.
