Braley helped Waterloo theater recover from flood

It readily appears that large amounts of outside “special interest” money is attempting to buy the congressional race of our 1st District. Let us remember just one special part of the record of Congressman Bruce Braley during the flood disaster of 2008.
Braley and his office worked with FEMA through Congress to insure the survival of my organization after the devastating effects the flood had on our building, our attendance and our organization.
The natural disaster took the recovery efforts of our staff, our board and countless volunteers. While we are not financially “out of the water” yet, our organization was saved due to the efforts of Bruce Braley.
I know he was instrumental in helping other organizations in downtown Waterloo with funding from FEMA as well, thus preserving Vision Iowa for our communities while keeping our current landscape alive for the much anticipated SportsPlex coming to downtown Waterloo.
It is ironic that big money from outside our state is vigorously attempting to stop a qualified incumbent who has helped to bring major federal funding to our communities when we needed it most. Actually, it is an indirect compliment to Braley who is being watched at the national level, according to Tim Kaine, chairman of the Democratic National Committee.
We need economic recovery. We need it now. We need Bruce Braley in Washington to continue to fight for all of us.
