Braley comments show money rules campaigns

Of all the reasons Iowans should not elect a Republican to replace Sen. Tom Harkin, having a farmer as chair of the Senate Judiciary committee would rank at the bottom of the list. Equal rights for all, protection of voting rights, defending women's reproductive rights, supporting public education and fighting for economic justice would be just a few of the better reasons to elect Rep. Bruce Braley, D-Iowa, to the U.S. Senate
Braley's recent comments (about farmers and Sen. Chuck Grassley) are equivalent to basketball's “double dribble while traveling.” One more episode reflective of the mockery made of democracy by a conservative Supreme Court that decided money is more important than our voice or our vote in deciding elections. As long as politicians have to go “hat in hand” to appeal for money to compete with the now unrestrained big-money interests in this country we will continue to get government of, by and for the rich.
