Bottles and cans are piling up

I've never been a fan of the bottle deposit bill, but handled it efficiently by bringing containers back to the grocery frequently, spending little time per visit. When the groceries quit accepting the containers, I went to the Can Shed and learned about their bulk recycling approach. So now I have a bag of cans and a box of bottles and the Can Shed is now temporarily closed.

We've learned a lot about social distancing and mask wearing, and we appear to be able to safely go to the grocery and bring back groceries. I'm hoping we can also think of a way to get the money back for the trash we've effectively had to rent from the State of Iowa which is piling up in our homes. Cedar Rapids now has excellent recycling capability that we didn't have when the container deposit was instituted.

I don't know how consistent this is across the state, but I think a law mandating a recycle path for paper, plastic and metal in all municipalities in the state would be a good alternative to the bottle deposit which places a significant time-wasting burden on the consumer.
