Regarding the Aug. 14 letter 'Hobby Lobby's decisions upsetting” by Sue Dirks.
Hobby Lobby is not interfering with their employees freedom of religion or their freedom to choose their method of contraception. Hobby Lobby only wants the right not to be forced to pay for the contraception.
By attempting to force employers to pay for contraception, the federal government is in fact interfering with the business owners freedom of religion. The fact that the Supreme Court agreed is one small step toward maintaining our freedoms. It is very pro-American.
Also, following your reasoning: Should Shoe Carnival be allowed to locate within a few blocks of Famous Footwear or Fresh Foods near Hy-Vee? We are a free country and competition is encouraged. Aren't you and I blessed that we still have the free choice of where we shop?
