Bill helps businesses increase business

Iowa businesses need business. As a legislator, I have heard those words many times from the business owners I meet. That's why I designed a bill that passed the Senate 35-15 last week to level the playing field for Iowa businesses that compete in the state's RFP process.
This bill is about helping Iowa businesses who employ Iowans, pay Iowa commercial property tax and produce Iowa products. This bill now goes onto the House.
As a freshman senator, I was also proud to be part of the subcommittee, committee and full Senate that advanced the a bill to increase the Earned Income Tax Credit. This bill will give more than 260,000 Iowa households a boost in their state tax return. This tax cut also will help Iowa's small businesses. When you cut taxes for struggling, working families, those dollars are spent locally on food, gas, car repairs, medical bills and other necessities.
The Senate has passed and is focused on delivering legislation this session that grows our economy, reforms education and redesigns mental health services.
