We’re grateful for the recent passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill. This legislation brings peace of mind and real, tangible benefits to retirees like us who have worked hard all our lives and want a secure, stable retirement.
Without this bill, Iowa families would have faced a tax increase — especially harmful to those on fixed incomes. For us, the greatest relief is knowing our Social Security income will remain protected, helping us cover essential daily expenses like groceries, utilities, and prescriptions.
We also appreciate the simplified tax filing process with the extension of the standard deduction. This may seem minor, but for retirees navigating tax season, it's a big win. It means fewer hoops, less stress, and more time to enjoy life.
Thank you to our elected leaders who made this happen: Reps. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Ashley Hinson, Zach Nunn, Randy Feenstra and Sens. Joni Ernst, and Chuck Grassley. Your leadership and commitment to Iowa’s retirees did not go unnoticed.
This bill shows what’s possible when common sense and compassion come together. It protects a seniors’ financial stability while keeping our state and country fiscally strong. We hope this spirit of cooperation continues — for our sake and for the sake of future generations.
Thank you for standing with Iowa’s retirees.
