Biden’s withdrawal from campaign puts country over self

While I am disappointed that circumstances made it impossible for Joe Biden to continue as the Democratic nominee for president, I am proud of his decision which clearly puts the best interest of the country over self. He has much to be proud of in over 50 years of public service including major accomplishments as president, not the least of which were the biggest infrastructure bill since the 1950s, the most comprehensive environmental legislation ever, PACT act for our veterans, pulling us out of a COVID recession, forgiving student loans, rebuilding the strength of NATO and the trust of our allies and, perhaps most importantly, restoring dignity and respect in the White House.
He will go down in history as a great patriot and one of our best presidents for his accomplishments. This will give the Democrats the opportunity to demonstrate that the principles and values we hold dear are more important than a cult of personality and pride of self. Now is the time to show that my party, the Democrats, is truly the party of democracy as we select, nominate, and rally behind a new standard-bearer.
