Biden, Democrats taking action against ‘greedflation’

Hardworking families are struggling to make ends meet. Their pocketbooks are getting skinnier and skinnier due to “greedflation.” Big corporations are price gouging and exploiting consumers with high, inflated prices while taking in record profits and giving executives lavish bonuses. They are doing this because they can and because they know everyone needs to eat and put fuel in their cars.
Under Gov. Kim Reynolds and Republicans, greedflation worsens. Their flat tax scheme, which they passed in the final days of the legislative session, benefits the wealthy who will pay less in taxes. As a result, their wallets will get fatter and fatter. Everyday Iowans will pay more on top of the high prices charged by the corporations.
However, there is hope on the horizon. President Biden and Democratic senators are taking action against corporate greed through measures like the Price Gouging Prevention Act which cracks down on corporations and holds them accountable for excessively raising prices.
Another is reforming the tax system which ensures billionaires, millionaires and the wealthy pay their fair share. We can help by voting for leaders who prioritize the needs of everyday Iowans. When we have leaders who work for us, our future will be brighter and together we can build a fairer and more just country where everyone has the opportunity to get ahead and succeed.
