Beware of mandating property tax cuts
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Mar. 15, 2011 11:02 am
It seems like the state level-elected officials defer their tax cuts to the cities and counties.
When it comes to tax cuts for business, cities and counties have provisions in the law to allow for tax rebates to businesses. Mandating property tax cuts will take this negotiating tool away.
Responsible tax levies are important, but tax cuts should not be “passed down” to the local government entity.
