Best investment is children’s education
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I am retired and I don't want my grandchildren's opportunity to be educated to be diminished by cutting taxes. My health insurance premiums are nine times my income tax and three times my property tax, so cutting these taxes, as has been proposed, will not make a big difference in my living expenses.
The thought of having my grandchildren's future jeopardized will be more painful than paying the taxes at the current level. The best investment for our future is to invest in our children's and grandchildren's education. I hope that Gov. Terry Branstad and the Iowa legislators will come around to agree with that.
