Benefits to obeying the speed limit

It's surprising to see all the letters about the Interstate 380 traffic cameras. I'm betting 90 percent of the people who write in have gotten a ticket or a relative who has. Most are never coming back to Cedar Rapids because 'they” have broken the speeding laws. They want to try and blame the city and the cameras for their unlawful acts.
I have gotten a ticket because I was going 67 mph. That's 12 mph over the posted speed limit. But I'm man enough to know I'm the one who broke the law. Why should I put the blame on the city? If there was a highway patrolman using his radar then this would make them happy? This doesn't make a brilliant argument.
Hopefully, the interstate cameras are here to stay. Not one traffic death on the I-380 s-curve in the downtown area speaks volumes to me. Going 55 to 65 mph is plenty fast so everyone can get home safe. Ask anyone who has lost a loved one or a family member to a traffic death. Slowing down for two minutes a day is worth it.
