Be thoughtful when voting begins

To the editor:
I am not a person who usually speaks out in a public forum about the election of a president. I feel that I must say something as one voice crying out in the political desert.
When did we become the laughing stock of the world? When did we look around and say any person with some nondescript, 'I am going to fix things” would become someone we would want as president? What does that mean? What's the plan?
Where are the true statesmen, negotiators, thoughtful men and women? They are drowned out by the use of scare tactics, Bible verses and pandering to people's fears and misconceptions of other people.
Please be thoughtful and cautious when the voting starts. We want the world to be proud to have America as an ally, not a joke on Saturday Night Live.
