Be patient with city snowplow drivers

On Jan. 26 at the Cedar Rapids airport, I saw my family for the first time in six months after being in Afghanistan. I felt as though I had finally returned to a civilized place.
For the first few days, I was in heaven. I went to the mall, saw family members and friends and drove my truck without having to wear body armor. I even got to enjoy my favorite weather - snowstorms. I love driving around in the snow and seeing the tranquil neighborhoods and neighbors helping each other.
I also witnessed an Iowa City resident standing in front a city plow, screaming at the driver that he had put the snow right in front of her driveway. She was berating the poor driver and using language that would offend even a soldier - hard to do. I was incredibly disappointed and angered.
The city's employees worked 16-hour days to clear streets for residents, and this is the thanks they get. Ever since plows have been in use, the method in which the streets have been cleared has been the same.
There is no such thing as a magic plow that puts the snow into a magic dump truck the first day it snows. Please be patient with our hard-working city employees instead of hindering their hard work.
