Be a patriot by fighting authoritarianism

The Gazette offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be mispronounced.
It’s not looking good, America. Hans Gruber has our wife by the wristwatch; we can’t even see Apollo Creed through our swollen eyeballs; and we’re holding the title for turnovers in the WNBA. We’re getting our butts kicked out there.
Wake up, America. Take breaks from platforms that serve content automatically (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube); you — yes you — may already be surrendering some free will to their algorithms. You may also be a bigger target for Bannon’s “muzzle velocity”.“Flooding the zone,” has us zoning out right when we need to focus up.
Wise up, America. Please, for the love of all that’s holy, choose factual, unbiased sources (e.g., The Hill, The BBC, The AP, CNBC, The Gazette, The Register), and reflect on what you’ve read. The urge to act will come next.
Stand up, America. Flip open the watch, knock Apollo out, and earn the title of Time Magazine’s Athlete of the Year. Caitlin Clark is an Iowan, just like you and me, and look at all she has done.
The patriots fighting British Imperialism would have died for the advantages we have today. And they did. Thanks to them we have a Constitution and a democracy … for as long as we’re willing to fight for them. Join me in rejecting authoritarianism once more. Be a patriot in the truest sense.
In America, our officials still serve at the pleasure of the people.
