I am writing on behalf of Joshua Bates, candidate for an at-large seat on the Clear Creek-Amana school board. In getting to know Josh, I have found him to be a very grounded, intelligent, and respectful person. He is straight forward about his stances on issues, and he gives well-researched rationale to support them.
Josh took a work vacation day and spent that time touring the CCA district buildings. While visiting the schools, he had a chance to view firsthand the challenges that each building is facing, as well as the many positive aspects of learning occurring. While discussing these visits with Josh I could tell that he was sincerely interested in learning more about all aspects of the district. He is spending time reading, listening, and learning everything he can about CCA facilities, curriculum, and current learning environment.
As I have visited with Josh, he has displayed a very astute grasp of what it takes to be a good Board member. He has conducted listening posts around the district, reached out to other board members, and has shown that he is doing what it takes to understand school-related issues and make informed decisions. Josh has said publicly that he is not a one issue candidate; but as a parent and patron of CCA, he wants the district schools to provide an educational environment that allows all students to thrive and achieve their potential.
