Basketball player is gifted young man

To the editor:
It was a pleasure to read The Gazette's recent article on Mike Gesell ('Gesell for all seasons,” July 3).
Wow, what a gifted young man. I was surprised to see he has earned a bachelor's degree with a 3.93 grade-point average in only three years. This is in addition to being a very skilled basketball player for the University of Iowa. This is truly what a student-athlete is. Keep up the good work, Mike, on and off the court!
P.S. - Nice job of recruiting by coach Fran McCaffery.
