Avoid a ticket by following the law

To the editor:
I am puzzled by the resistance and anger directed toward the speed cameras. Speed limits have been established for a long time and the fact that it is illegal to exceed them. How can anyone complain if they do it and get a ticket? Do they want the personal presence of a policeman to risk their lives to hand it to them while they are pulled over on a busy highway? Are they hoping a patrolman won't be nearby when they ignore the speed limit? Do they think they are above the law? It has been suggested that we hire more police and get more cars to patrol the highways. How many speeders would be ticketed since we all check our speedometers when we see a police car? How much pollution would be generated by their gas consumption?
It has been shown that the number of accidents has been lowered and the police are freed to protect the public. What's not to like about it? I guess if you speed then you don't like it.
I am puzzled.
