To the editor:
This feud between the auditor and the Board of Supervisors is beginning to be a bit much.
It seems that the Board of Supervisors are seeking revenge because the auditor questions them about things. For heavens sake, he was duly elected by the voters (overwhelmingly, I might add) to serve as county auditor, so he should be able to audit.
Shortly after that, the supervisors gave the facilities operations to Garth Fagerbakke (Miller's challenger). What was up with that?
Next the information technology was taken away from the auditor. Now the supervisors want to take the payroll functions and accounts payable from the auditor's office and give it to human resource. Do they even have an accountant in human resources that can do these jobs? I'd certainly want someone who knew what they were doing handling payroll and accounts payable.
The supervisors say they are 'looking for inefficiencies in many departments.” Maybe someone should check and see what other departments they are 'looking at for inefficiencies.” I'll bet there were none.
I know the supervisors control the purse strings. Makes it nice for them to give themselves a raise whenever they want one. That's a nice perk, but this feud with the auditor just smacks of plain vindictiveness. It's their way or no way.
