Assault weapons must be banned
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jan. 17, 2013 10:46 am
To Sen. Chuck Grassley: I want my freedom. I want to be able to walk down my block, go to a movie theater and go to a national park without the fear of someone carrying a weapon such as used in Newtown, Conn.
You have an obligation to the citizens of Iowa and the United States to prevent this. It is your duty as a senator from Iowa that these assault weapons are banned. The only reason why these weapons exist is to kill. The gun manufacturers are looking to increase profits at the expense of the lives of U.S. citizens. Why is this OK? Why is this the status quo?
The next death by such weapons will be on your conscience. Can you answer to your God faithfully?
