Asphalt road surface should be smooth

I am writing regarding the new asphalt road surface on First Avenue between Collins Road NE and 40th Street NE. One would think that a brand new asphalt surface on a road would be silky smooth and great to drive on. Unfortunately, this section of road has numerous edges where one strip of asphalt was not blended with the rest of the asphalt, leaving a long ridge that differs by one quarter to one half an inch. Take a drive down that stretch of road and you will understand.
The right thing to do would be to have the asphalt contractor fix the road surface and take steps to ensure that this type of situation does not happen in the future.
