Antioxidant supplements spared diner sickness

We had a great Thanksgiving dinner and enjoyed the day with family. No problems until the next day. Almost everyone was very sick, some contemplating their local emergency rooms. The same continued on into Saturday, but now everyone was very sick. Everyone but me. I just had a headache and took a nap.
We all agreed it had to be the precooked ham. I probably ate more ham than most of them and I did not have the terrible symptoms as all the rest. Why? I give my antioxidant supplements the credit. When I heard everyone was getting sick I drank a load of water and doubled my normal dose. I now believe the average immune system is weaker in many more ways than I previously knew.
None of the people involved regularly take antioxidant supplements and extra water. Many of them are not willing to try either because they just do not believe antioxidant supplements do any good.
What I learned: Popular beliefs and skepticism are just part of our culture. It's kind of like peer pressure and will cause many of us to suffer and die before our time. All the rest of us can do is watch and try to comfort them in their slow, dying disbelief.
Some scary Thanksgiving. Try to have great and healthy holidays.
