Another Republican backs away from Trump

With the media (correctly) focused on Ukraine, some people may have missed that another long time Donald Trump loyalist is speaking out against his former boss. Last week the Wall Street Journal published a portion of the recent book by former Attorney General, William Barr. In it, Barr describes his conversation with (then) President Trump during which Barr indicated the DOJ had found no evidence of substantial voter fraud in the 2020 election. Trump became so unhinged that he ended the conversation by firing Barr. Only after intervention by two members of Trump’s personal legal team, did he recant. (Barr later resigned, prior to the President leaving office - “to spend more time with his family during Christmas.”.)
Barr joins the list of long time Republicans who have backed away from the former president: John Bolton, John Kelly, Dick Cheney, Mike Pence, and to some extent, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (as well as others). The question: What does it take for rank and file Republicans to also turn away from the former president and choose a new leader for the GOP?
