An argument for banning cameras

I've read several editorials both pro and con concerning the speed cameras in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. My experience is an excellent reason to ban the cameras.
My vehicle was taken without my permission by a nonfamily member. The vehicle was found abandoned on the side of the road.
I received a letter from the Automated Speed Enforcement Program of Cedar Rapids with photo of vehicle and license plate informing me that I had a citation for speeding on Interstate 380 on the same date the vehicle was taken from my home. I appealed the citation based on the aforementioned situation.
The Violation Processing Center of Latham, N.Y., responded: “Iowa is a registered owner liability state, therefore the violation must remain in your name unless you sold, rented or leased your vehicle.” I refused to pay the fine. They sent my account to collections which, of course, will show up on my credit rating. I will never pay this fine. I am not guilty of breaking any traffic laws. This is akin to taxation without representation. Time for another Tea Party.
