AmeriCorps helps improve people’s lives
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Apr. 2, 2014 2:24 pm
This year, AmeriCorps is celebrating its 20th anniversary. I am serving in the National Health Corps and have witnessed the impact that individuals can have on their communities in the spirit of service.
I have helped connect at-risk populations with food assistance and provided nutrition education in my community. I also have helped mobilize volunteers to confront the issue of food insecurity. My efforts have impacted more than 500 families in the six months I have served.
Please remember how service can influence individuals and communities in diverse and positive ways. The changes AmeriCorps members across the nation make within their communities could not happen without your support.
