Americans too ‘dumbed down’ to participate

After being subjected to the onslaught of misinformation and slander from people at forums, tea parties and protests, I believe that most of us could use refresher courses in Constitution 101 and Emily Post. Our founders assumed that the voting public would be well enough educated and fair-minded to participate intelligently in the governing of our Republic.
However, the “dumbing down” of Americans reminds us that Pogo was right. “We have met the enemy and he is us.”
