America needs leaders at all levels

To the editor:
Once upon a time I was a Democrat, then I moved to the Republican Party for several years before I exited and now identify myself as an independent. During my Republican years my philosophy was 'bring our boys and girls home” from far away places and let those countries fix their own problems. My thoughts were those of an isolationist and I believed in it.
However, after the new administration arrived and occupied the White House, I now know what the absence of leadership can render unto citizens throughout the world. If 'good guys” won't, or can't lead, then the 'bad guys” overwhelm countries with an unarmed, family oriented society.
Today I appreciate leadership more than ever. As I heard this said by good, strong leaders, 'Either lead or get out of the way.” We still have a large preponderance of leaders in America, but they are very rare and I'm uncertain as to whether or not today's American society truly desires a leader. Social uncertainty, chaos and tough times seem to be the preference of the government and voters believe they cannot make a difference. America needs leaders at every level of society, especially in government and education, or this country will never recover from the hole that continues to deepen in our daily lives, irrespective of politics.
