Alumni can support Iowa Wesleyan College
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Shocked, upset and confused are the alumni in regard to the shrinking of Iowa Wesleyan College.
Years ago at my previous home, I traveled a lot and told business friends in other states, mostly in the East, I was moving to Mount Pleasant. Their remarks would often be “good town,” “great college.”
To close so many valuable classes without asking for assistance or advice from the college's many successful alumni seems very
inconsiderate.
It has been an honor for the last many years to live in a community of the oldest college west of the Mississippi and to attend some of their singing events and hear their people in our church choir.
This old high school dropout and his wife would like to offer $1,000 as a starter, to form a new group known as “alumni supporters of IWC.” If alumni will come forward, I'm certain our community will be very supportive.
