Ahmadinejad only trying to gain prestige
The Gazette Opinion Staff

The June 17 column titled “Cairo: A year later, nothing has changed” and written by Cal Thomas is ludicrous.
He claimed that Iran is “building nuclear weapons to obliterate Israel.” Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a tyrant but he is not suicidal. He is trying to gain prestige by becoming a member of the nuclear club, which includes the United States, Britain, Russia, China, France, India, Israel and Pakistan (a predominantly Muslim nation).
Thomas is upset by the presence of mosques in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Does this imply that churches and synagogues should be the only places for the assembly of worshippers? If so, this is a violation of the first amendment to the U.S. Constitution. We should be reaching out our hand in peace to Muslims.
Perhaps Thomas should be added to the list of anti-Muslims.
