Accountability is needed for national unity

No one should plan for, invite crowds and then incite insurrection. But Donald Trump did. The House impeached him for it and Trump should be held accountable by being tried fairly and have senators vote based on all the evidence. Senators can argue all they want about how he is out of office and how Congress should move on so a trial doesn't cause discord, but where were our two senators when Trump and many Congress members claimed election fraud and spouted misinformation for two months? Sens. Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst sat on the sidelines, not calming people nor striving for unity nor tamping down division.
Do you want Donald Trump to campaign for office for the next four years? Because that is what he will do if there is no trial and conviction and vote to bar him from office. Do you worry about division and violence in this country? So do I. There must be a full trial.
Please write your Senators. Ask Grassley and Ernst to review the evidence and vote without bias based on what they hear from witnesses. If Trump is convicted, ask them to vote to bar him from federal office. The man is a menace to the country and to the world.
