AARP campaign is a deceitful fraud

Regarding Tony Vola's Oct. 14 guest column, titled “Don't cut the benefits that seniors have earned.”
The AARP campaign for funds to support their “Fight to Preserve Social Security” is a fraud. No one is considering any plan to discontinue benefits to those now receiving them. All plans to preserve Social Security are directed toward future beneficiaries - raising the retirement age and/or using a “means” test to eliminate or reduce benefits to those whose wealth shows that they are not in need of benefits.
The AARP campaign is thus a “scare Grandma” attempt to raise funds and provide support for the Democratic election campaign and the re-election of President Obama.
The AARP should be ashamed of such a deceitful practice. It owes its loyal members an apology.
