I recently completed a month long process that was very difficult and demanding, and at the same time, it was mentally and emotionally very rewarding and uplifting. My mother, Bert Long, passed away on Nov. 21, and the medical care, and emotional care, that she and her family received before and after her passing from the Meth-Wick Community, St. Luke's Hospital and Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, were in short, world class. I know we are very fortunate to have many institutions in Eastern Iowa that are in the business of helping others, and they all deserve a sincere thank you for making a positive difference in others life's. So to all of you (volunteers, first responders, caregivers, social workers, nurses, doctors, etc.) who are in the business Of helping others, thank you for making people, not business, your No. 1 priority.
