A letter welcoming new C.R. city manager

Dear Mr. Jeff Pomeranz: Welcome to Cedar Rapids as our new city manager! As a gesture of goodwill, there are a few items for you to bring with you for the job.

1. Antidepressants

2. Anti-anxiety medication

3. Large quantities of Prep-H for the human hemorrhoids called the Majority Five of the City Council.

4. Tweezers for the burrs that will occur under your saddle.

5. A rope for the tug-of-war power struggles that are frequent, or for other desperate purposes.

6. Enlist a psychiatrist immediately, if you don't have one, because if you weren't crazy to take this job, you will be.

With this all being said, again welcome to Cedar Rapids politics. We're glad to have you. I might suggest you not unpack everything as we see city managers come and go pretty quickly.
